So here's another late night post for everyone...what can I say, we're night owls for sure.
Anyways, eventually I'll get around to telling y'all about the wedding and the honeymoon, but I don't have our wedding pictures yet, so sadly you will have to wait. But for now, here's what we've been up to for the last month and a half!
To start off, we flew back from the honeymoon to Houston and stayed at Colin's parent's home until we had to move to California for Colin's job. It was so much fun getting to know his parents and his sister better during the three weeks that we were there. They were so sweet to us, and I know Colin definitely enjoyed having his mom cook for him again haha. She's a MUCH better cook than I am! We were also able to see my family a lot because our parents only live 30 minutes away from each other, so we bounced back and forth between both homes! The day after we got back from the honeymoon my mom invited us to a married couples retreat for my parents ward, so we figured why not go? We felt a bit silly going since we had only been married for 8 days so it didn't quite feel real yet. I was so glad we went though! It was definitely helpful getting marriage tips right off the bat haha.
The week after we got back, the whole Jones family took off to Hawaii and I was lucky enough to get to join them! Colin and I were really looking forward to this trip as a sort of "second honeymoon" haha, but also as a chance for me to get to know his siblings and their families. So we were in Honolulu for a week and we loved every minute of our stay in paradise! We did a lot though so I'll have to summarize a little. The first day, we just relaxed since the 5 hour time difference meant it was pretty late back home, so we had to readjust our sleeping schedule. The next day we celebrated Colin's adorable niece, Skylar's, fake birthday haha. For some unknown reason she thinks that her birthday is in May instead of June, so we humored her and had a little party with the cutest Minnie and Mickey cake.
Throughout the rest of the week we did a lot of random things that you get to see in the picture montage below haha, enjoy!
| Kua'aina, the best hamburger place in the world! Nothing like a grilled pineapple burger to fill a hungry tummy :) |
| At the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Colin was such a tired guy but luckily he trooped through the day until he could have his pineapple ice cream! |
| We started a tradition where we buy an ornament whenever we go on vacation! This time we got Santa on a surfboard hehe and we were able to get our names written on it. So cute! |
| At Pearl Harbor. It was such an amazing place that we went twice that week! I definitely gained more respect and appreciation for the people that fought and died there. Such a cool experience! |
| Grandpa, Meg, and Skylar. So cute! |
| This little guy is our nephew Owen and he is by far the craziest little kid I've seen. You look away from him for two seconds and he's off running. He likes to unplug things and open every door and cupboard he can get his hands on! But still a cutie! |
| The Polynesian Cultural Center which is actually run by the church. This was by far my favorite part of the trip!! I went into it expecting a boring tour but it was anything but that! |
| Still at the PCC waiting for our tour to start. This little cutie is our nephew Sam, and that other cutie is my Colin ;) |
| While we "toured" Micronesia, Colin was called up as a special guest since he had recently graduated and got to do a dance with a few other special guests and the big guy haha. |
| Then at the next stop Colin's sister, Kim and I were called up to do this weird dance with coconuts...not my best moment as you can see by my strange facial expression lol. |
| Then we went to this HUGE Hawaiian buffet with a ridiculous amount of people eating with us. While we were here they asked if there were any couples celebrating special occasions who wanted to come on stage for a surprise. We figured our "second honeymoon" counted so we went up! The special surprise was that all the couples got to dance on stage together. I thought it was pretty cute and kind of a special moment for us, as cheesy as that sounds haha. |
| Also that week, we went to Matsumotos for their famous shaved ice. Now we know why it's famous, cause it was super yummy! |
| Displaying our colorful tongues! Mine looks lame but I promise in person it looked better haha. After this we went surfing but sadly we didn't get any pictures. |
| Back at Pearl Harbor but this time we toured a hangar where they were reconstructing planes and such used during the attack. They randomly had a Boeing plane there so we had to take a picture with it and represent ;) |
| My babe modeling the very stylish aviator cap. His mom came up to us and asked "What the heck is that thing on your head?!" Haha. |
| Our last full day was spent doing a lot of random things. This picture was taken at the lookout which has the most gorgeous view of the island. It has some interesting history also...the short version...there was a battle and the winning side won by pushing their enemies off the huge cliff lol. Fighting dirty for sure! |
| No one appreciates this picture as much as I do haha gets me every time. We were hiking up to a lighthouse used for storing war supplies during WWII...then Colin stood on a huge rock and promptly reenacted a scene from the titanic and sang his version of the theme song. I die laughing every time and no one understands why haha. I love my silly husband! |
So there's the "short" version for y'all. Haha sorry, I tried my best!
Anyways, when we got home from Hawaii we had to readjust back 5 hours which was not fun! We had a few sleepless nights before we got back into the swing of things...right before it was time to move! Even though we had a great time in Texas with our families we were definitely eager to get our own place..typical newlyweds haha. So we packed up and drove to Long Beach, California!
| Our first night there our landlords treated us to pizza and some wine haha. Since we don't drink it was a surprise when we opened up our fridge and there it was! But they are so sweet to us, gotta love it. |
| Our kitchen which would be perfect if it had an oven haha. |
| The living room. FYI our landlord's wife is Asian hence the Asian decor...not quite our style but it couldn't hurt to bring a little more feng shui into our lives ;) |
| The bathroom |
| Our bedroom...we have a guest room also but it's full of boxes so you can hardly see it. Plus it somehow turned into Colin's video game man cave so I don't venture in there too often haha. |
| The "dining room" lol. It's been brought to my attention that it slightly looks like an altar...my bad haha. |
| And last but not least, Colin's first day of work at Boeing! He was so excited and he came back even more excited, so we are happy campers. Plus he looks pretty good in his work clothes hehe ;) |
So there you have it! This is what we've been up to lately! Things are quite a bit more boring now that we're not jetting off to foreign places every other week, but I think we like a more quiet laid back life for sure. Now that we're settled in we can start exploring the city and I am SO excited for that! Expect a long post full of pictures when we finally get around to risking our lives and gas money in the horrendous LA traffic!
Well that's it for now, thanks for keeping up with us!
