Colin and I decided to celebrate July 4th early because we're not going to be together on the actual day, and it's our first holiday together as a married couple. So we had to celebrate ;)
Anyways, I spent practically the whole day running around town buying and also making the food for us since this was a last minute decision. I was super stressed because I found the cutest American flag pie on pinterest that I was dying to make, but I needed a star shaped cookie cutter and couldn't find one ANYWHERE. Eventually I found a flower shaped cookie cutter that resembled a star haha, so I gave up and just went with that. Then to add to the stress, later in the day I slammed my finger in a gate and almost passed out (yes, again...this also happened on my birthday lol.) But none of that even matters because I finished my pie!!! This was the very first homemade fruit pie I've ever made without someone more experienced than me helping, and I encountered a few problems while transporting the pie hence the smashed crust haha. I still think it looks good for a first try! Luckily it tastes way better than it looks :) I even got two thumbs up from the hubby!

| The left is what I was going for and the right is mine haha. I swear the only reason their pie looks better is because their picture was taken in light other than your florescent light bulb lit kitchen at 10 P.M. ;) |
After Colin got home from work we left for the beach! The beaches here are a million times better looking than what we're used to in Texas, but the water is also a million times colder. We don't really swim here lol.
Now comes my favorite part! Here are all of the pictures we took :) I'm especially excited about these ones because I recently broke out my fancy DSLR instead of the teeny point and shoot we have. Plus I actually took the time to edit these differently, which is half the fun! So here ya go.
| I was going for a simplistic modern look on the left and a modern vintage look on the right (if that makes sense lol) while I edited these ones...partial success! |
| These are payback for Colin purposefully shoving pieces of watermelon in his mouth when I tried taking picture of him! I had to throw in the cute one at the end though :) P.S. I just realized I need to work on keeping myself out of sunglasses reflections...whoops hehe. | |

| MY COLIN TOOK THIS! We may have a budding photographer on our hands! |
| My hot husband! I like this one a lot :) |
| Our little picnic spot post 4th of July feasting. Notice the cute watermelon table cloth I found...$1! I was very proud of that steal haha. Also, our IBC rootbeer bottles brought quite the crowd to us since everyone assumed it was beer lol. |
| Last but not least, the watermelon I cut into star shapes! That cookie cutter really came in handy! Plus the cute shapes seemed to make them taste better ;) |
All the trouble you went to I'm sure made the day extra special and extra memorable. P.S. Stop slamming your finger in things.
