I think I was more excited for Colin's birthday than he was! In my family we make quite the production out of birthdays. When we were little the "birthday fairy" came while we were out at dinner and decorated our room pretty extravagantly, then we had the birthday celebration in the kitchen which was also decked out, and we usually had some intense cake that my mom had slaved over. I really want to continue this with my family so I had begun planning Colin's birthday weeks in advance. His presents were all ordered in time, the decorations and ingredients for the cake were purchased...I just had one more surprise left which was going to be the most exciting part of his birthday that was going to cost a good amount of money so I put that off. Then my plans were crushed when the day before I was going to go out and get the surprise my car was stolen. So of course that put a damper on his birthday and I couldn't go spend money to buy the surprise. It still turned out pretty well without the surprise, it just wasn't what I wanted to happen, obviously. He had a good day and that was my intention so it was still a success!

The decorations I had to put up at an ungodly hour since my husband is a night owl.

The birthday boy!

Dinner at Outback. Good choice babe ;)

Chocolate cherry cake! So yummy.
Funny story, the whole week before his birthday I went crazy and kept thinking he was turning 24 so when I found a package of 24 candles I bought it and that was that...until I remembered he was 25 haha. So I just spelled out 25. |

My parents got him the Lord of the Rings movies, so of course we finished the night off with the first movie!
Now I can check off our first birthday as a married couple and the somewhat successful implementation of a family tradition!
I'm lucky to have my Colin. I love him more and more every day.
